Our Story
Hi, I'm Jess. Welcome to Smith and Snout. I'm a dog trainer in Hayle Cornwall and have a lifelong passion for animals, stemming from childhood. I have a passion for rescue and rehabilitation, all of my own animals are rescues. With this, there have been many challenges along the way, with lots of patience and training. This led me to become very interested in training and the wonders of positive reinforcement. I went on to complete the Career as a Dog Trainer course with the IMDT and I am constantly interested to know and learn new ways of training. I also have an in depth understanding of the law around dogs and the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Dog training
All of my Training is positive and reward based. I will never tell you to punish your dog or use uncomfortable/painful equipment to correct behaviour. My training is about giving our dogs the best chance at navigating our human world, and helping owners to understand how to let our dog's just be dogs, and what is good for their mental wellbeing. From puppy classes to 1:1 advice, I will tailor training to your dogs needs. If there is a behavioural issue that I do not believe I am equip to deal with, I will tell you honestly and can advise you on the best place to go from there.
Other Services
Dog walking. From leisurely strolls to energetic playtime. These can be with other dogs or Independent and in a wide range of locations around West Cornwall including Hayle, St Ives, Carbis Bay and surrounding areas. These walks are tailored specifically to your dog's needs.
Animal care within the home. Going on holiday? At work all day? I can pop into your home and feed/clean out/fuss your pets
Equine exercise/care. I have years of experience with horses. If I can help you in any way by riding, mucking out, feeding, whilst you are away or as more of a regular thing, please get in touch

My classes aim to equip you and your dogs with skills that will help your dog to be well socialised and well adjusted to life in our world.
