Hi, I'm Jess. Welcome to Smith and Snout. I'm a dog walker in Hayle Cornwall and have a lifelong passion for animals, stemming from childhood. I have owned a whole range of four legged friends from hamsters to dogs to horses and everything in-between. I have a passion for rescue and rehabilitation, all of my own animals are rescues. I also have an in depth understanding of the law around dogs and the Dangerous Dogs Act.
I am based in Cornwall and committed to providing personalised care, companionship and fun to your beloved pets. I understand that every animal is unique and has their own needs and preferences. I will work with you to develop a customized walk or care plan for your furry friend. All animals are welcome and considered, including those with behavioural issues.

Health and happiness
Regular dog walking ensures your dogs keep active and healthy. I tailor each walk to suit the individual and do everything I can to ensure that dog is happy and content.
Behavioural issues
Mental and physical activity has been proven to improve a dog's well-being emotionally. I can help with and continue your training, and give you advise on certain issues. I am experienced with reactivity, and I will ensure your dog uses its brain through fun games whilst also learning.
Communication skill
With an in depth understanding of dog body language and experience around many breeds, ages and personalities. I can help your dog to feel comfortable expressing their wishes, and I can tell you what is working or not working for them.
Socialising
Some dogs love interacting with other dogs, others do not. Some are happy around people, livestock roads, others are not. Socialisation is not just about dogs playing together, but experiencing all the sights, smells, sounds, textures that the world has to offer. Its about learning how to be calm in every situation. I will always keep walks interesting, whilst meticulously planning them to what each dog needs and wants.

Fully insured & reviewed
I am fully insured with Clivertons, I also have a handful of great reviews for extra peace of mind. (please see my reviews below)
Cornwall is an amazing place to own animals. There are so many different types of walks you can choose from. One minute I will be on a vast white sandy beach, the next in a forest, the next a large grassy field and then ontop of a hill with views for miles around and ancient mining buildings and quiots. West Cornwall is such a great area to explore, and I love finding new footpaths.
Here are 3 of my favourite dog-friendly beaches in Cornwall, these beaches have no restrictions and are dog-friendly all year round:
1. Mexico Towans

2. Bamaluz

3. Porthkidney

Of course, please get in touch to schedule a meet and greet at smithandsnout@gmail.com or fill out the form below. I always do a meet and greet to discuss the owners and dogs neds and wants, and to ensure everybody is comfortable with me.
Working with dogs that are reactive or anxious takes special care and understanding. I can offer the extra time and patience your dog needs.
I personally have two reactive anxious dogs and I completely understand how it feels when you have a bad experience or if your dog is in a high state of arousal and gets upset. It can make you dread going for walks, and make them unenjoyable
I work to make dogs feel comfortable, and would never push a dog beyond its limits. Every dog is different, just like every person is, and I enjoy getting to know them and what works or doesn't work for them.
I believe in rewarding only, I will never punish a dog for any behaviour. You can usually find me with a pouch full of cheese or hotdogs.
I will happily work with dogs who need to be muzzled or dogs that have shown aggression before. I can help you to muzzle train your dog if required.
Banned Breeds
I will leave my own personal opinions on the dangerous dogs act and my political views away from this space.
Every dog should be able to experience a great, fulfilling life, no matter what breed they were born into. I will continue to walk any and every breed of dog, and my insurance covers me to do so.
I will always follow the law in relation to muzzles, leads and exemption certificates, but that does not mean your dog will not get just as much out of a walk.
So, If you have a reactive/anxious/exempted dog please do not be afraid to get in touch, I have a special place in my heart for them. If you are looking for dog training in Cornwall click here.
